Got this from CableRant...

Cablevision Moving HD to Switched Video

This just in from the CableRant newsroom:

Starting tomorrow, 3/14, Cablevision is going to start transmitting the
15 Voom high definition channels via switched video. Switched
video sends the signal in a more efficient manner, freeing up bandwidth.

What does this mean? It means that Cablevision will be able to add more
channels. CableRant is hoping that channels such as FX-HD, History HD
and the much-rumored full HBO-HD suite are added in the near future.

What channels would you like to see added?

The move to switched video will take about 30 days to hit Cablevision’s
entire footprint. Brooklyn, the Bronx and parts of New Jersey will not
be affected since these areas have already undergone a major project to
gain bandwidth.

For me, DiscoveryHD followed by HistoryHD....anything else at this point is icing on the cake.

Just give me more bandwidth to the existing channels like VSHD, quality over quantity.

Uh, I thought I was the only one when it comes to Versus, that poor channel is being butchered by CV's bit shaving. Watching Hockey on it is torture with all the compression artifacts. The moment the image moves quickly the picture gets unbearable, which is all the time in hockey. If only Versus could look like a game on MSG and MSG+.
