Traxis 3500 with patriot 85cm dish went from 53 to 68% Nice improvement.

Both transponders show the same SQ for me, 59-60, which is what I have been getting for the past two nights (after yet another of many sessions of tweaking after adding a third LNB to the dish to get AMC4). This is still up, however, from a couple of weeks ago when the AMC3 LNB was closer to the centre of the dish! Then I was getting low/high 40's to low 50's.

Now I notice a difference between the two transponders!

Unfortunately, it's going the wrong way!

The old 12164 is still purring along at 60 SQ, and the new 12145 is down to 45 SQ!

:( Noticed a similar comparison on my Ultra...

right now they are running about the same on my pansat routed thru my 10' bud, around 80% sq.

76 tonight on Coolsat

by the way...here is what you get if you go to the old TP (DONT CALL THE NUMBER...that is for cable subs whose cable company hasnt changed the info in their box)

I rescanned 87 west last night and the new Montana PBS comes it with a solid 90% quality on my Coolsat. The other PBS stations are in the high 80's.

What version of software is in your 5000? I'm confused how you can get a 99 quality and mine can't get any higher than a 85

Maybe I need to update my software. But I thought the Coolsat site only had version 1.00 for the 5000.

Thats the one thing that I hate about my coolsat...the sucky meter

Same as yours. I will admit that very early on I did some things I'm not proud of :)o ) but have long since re-flashed it with the factory file.

I don't know how to explain it. I will say that back when I was having motor problems I borrowed a friend's Coolsat 5000 (to see the it was a motor or a receiver issue) and for any given TP the quality readings on his were different from mine (usually lower). It seems even among receivers there's a discrepency.

I think we've all done that once before. :)
What's sad is some of those older "non factory" files have better featuires than the factory. I had a KUSat 2600 (digiwave clone) that if I downloaded some old 3rd party software (this was old N1 software long after Dish switched to N2) it gave the box USALS and AC-3 output. The factory software didnt have those options. Now before anyone says it, it did not give me any extra channels. It gave me an option for AC-3 (and I didnt have a box at the time that did)

weird...must have been different batches. I know I had received one of the earlier batches for the review I did so maybe they fixed the meter in the later batches.

What am I doing wrong. I don't even get a blip of a signal here in Winnipeg. Maybe I need to enter the entire information. Is the station on the air 24 hours a day?

I'm getting AMC 3 no problem. TIP TV and The Patient Channel are coming in at the 70's for signal and quality. But I don't get so much as a blip for 12145 H. I'm frustrated as the guy in Toronto is getting it.

Look at the footprint. Mpls & Toronto have a better EIRP level than Winnipeg. But if you have a larger dish that should have helped

Tony, I have a Friend who has the exact same Coolsat 4000 Pro as me.We hooked it up to my dish last week and we got signals in the 80's and 90's where mine gets 70's and 80's.I can't explain it.

You talkin' to me? ;)

Here's a comparison: TIP TV and The Patient Channel come in with 98% quality on my Coolsat.

Montana PBS comes in with 90%.

I routinely get KUIL FOX 64 on AMC-4 with a 98% quality reading.

Maybe there's something wrong with my receiver? :D

Definitely a bigger dish would help. Mine is a 36" Fortec.

Maybe I'm out by one notch and a switch to 1.2 for the motor will cure it? Never know till I try.

You are getting much higher readings. But we are comparing apples and oranges. At what level does the picture start to break up? On my Fortec, at 40% or picture is non-existant. At 45 and above its golden.

Tim
Let me try tonight on my Ultra and see what I get (The Pansat 1500 had it at 75 and that meter is spazmastic...30 is threshold)

Coolsats the threshold is 63 or so
