Monsters HD online petition

Most of the horror/sci-fi on MGM is garbage. Last night I sat through as much "Neanderthal Man" as I could stomach before switching to Lord Stanley. Do not think I have watched a MGM movie in its entirety, yet.

My free HD for 6 months expires on June 17th. My calendar is set to drop HD ultimate on that date. At least Dish knows when I am going to drop service. Had I known when Dish was going to drop VOOM, I would not have signed up.

MGM HD shows some good (And a few great) movies, but their horror lineup doesn't contain any of them. MGM is the only new HD channel I actually watch, but it certainly hasn't replaced Voom in the flip-it-on-whenever-and-find-something-interesting department. I watched part of the stilted, wannabe-toungue-in-cheek "TerrorVision" recently, and was unimpressed. I'm sure at some point they showed a good horror movie, but I wasn't watching. The last horror movie I watched was "Bride of Frankenstein"—DVR'd off Monsters.

I like MGM and Smithsonian but the rest pretty much suck.

+1

Smithsonian has the best picture quality of any Dish HD channel. They occasionally have something on that I'll watch, but, I find myself watching it like I did Equator just to ooo and awe at the HD quality.

MGM I am liking more and more...I was looking through their past lineups and they're GREAT. Supposedly, they have 1,200 movies that they can rotate.

Killer Klowns ???? Com 'ON!sadroll

A well deserved rolling eyes for Killer Klowns.

But the point is, there was love and care put into this cheap movie to bring its sound quality up to a 5.1 remix on Monsters HD.

I have a big problem with MGM not having 5.1 DD - there is no reason for that other than being cheap. Since MGM is in the highest tier, they should not be cheaping out on the sound.

I'm watching lots of MGM and like what they offer, but all MONO movies only utilize the CENTER speaker and all other movies are 2.0 surround. I realize that true 5.1 movies were not produced until the early 1990s, so if MGM is going with "we're maintaining the original sound", then I should see my 5.1 indicator light-up if they air movies from 1995 or later. NEVER have I EVER had to look at my receivers artificial remix options till MGM-MONO was introduced.

I just think MGM either doesn't have their 5.1 ON or they chose a cheap route and doesn't even bother with 5.1 DD technology or 5.1 DD transfers.

Movie studios who have HD channels (like MGM), do so because they own their own movie content already. They either buy the HD transfer technology and do it themselves or they hire a third party to do the conversion for them. It's far cheaper to simply make HD transfers (pretty pictures) without remixing the sound to 5.1 DD. At least Voom, Universal, HDNet pay for HD transfers w/ 5.1 DD remixes (most of the time).

We spend good money on HDTVs for great HD picture.

We also spend good money on 5.1 to 7.1 sound receivers for great 5.1 DD sound

You say what I think!!! Great POST!!!!!!

According to the site hosting this petition the die is cast. DISH was not impressed with the response. Not saying that is right or wrong or even true or false. just saying he is reporting that.

OK looking at this petition ,and only reviewing Half the signed list Tell me what these names next to these numbers have in common. (1621,1622) (1584,1585,1586) (1573,1575) (1249,1250) (1148,1149) (1031,1020) and (788,798). Keeping in mind I only glanced at the list and posted the ones that were on the same page or right next to each other. Do some of you wonder why Dishnetwork or anyone else that can read, might not have taken this Petition serious? Oh and if you happen to look at signature 517 let us know what it says.

It is over guys. E* will never bring Voom back. Too much legal stuff going on. Either Voom gets picked up or it dies. I have lost all hope but understand what is happening. Monstershd is dead on Dish!

Believe it or not ,I feel bad for the fans who signed this petition honestly. Its too bad some people just sign the petition as a joke, My guess most of the Bogus signatures were not fans of Voom. Good luck, Maybe E* will give you some sort of credit for a few bucks.

Yes even you "Apologist" We might have had our differences on the subject, but I know its only because you liked Voom ,And I wouldn't give it the time of day. Hopefully you got something out of E*.

I'm cool with that. The guy should have stopped the petition the first week when it reached 1k signatures. After that it became sort of a joke. Nothing we could have done anyway even with 10,000 signatures. Dish and Voom are in such a battle that nothing fans want would make a difference at this point. The best thing to do if Voom gets picked up is to support the provider that does pick them up.

Question for you guys that like Monsters- Do you watch the Sci-fi channel? I haven't watched that channel for years and I like Science Fiction/Horror. What is good on SciFi?
