Great. ESPN will have "bonus coverage" of the Braves-Nats, Marlins-Pirates, and Pads-Phils. Of course the weather in D.C. and Philly and Pittburgh may scuttle those games leaving ESPN stuck with three hours to fill.

Bonus coverage mixed with a lot of talk and other stuff. They won't be allowd to sit on those games the entire time.

Each time that espn has signed a contract they have been looking at ways at shrinking what they have to cover. The alt games were just one of a couple of things to go this time. If espn had its way with mlb it would probably be done to the sunday night game and nothing else. I supsect they are gradually going to move in this diretion anyway. I also believe we got a glimple of what mlb network will do. Which is add games to its schedule even though they won't necessary produce the games themselves. I would be suprised to the seem do what nba tv does except for one of those days produce the game themselves, but the rest of the time air at least one game a day except maybe on Sunday's.
Whatever happened to the days when ESPN had alternate games?

I remember the Sunday night opener of what was then Pac Bell Field complete with President Clinton in attendance which was rained out. Crudely, ESPN cut over to a local Denver station broadcast of a Rockies game to fill the slot. I say crudley because this was before digital cable and Extra Innings, etc. The picture was poor and the sound was just OK...but we had Sunday Night Baeball!!!!:)

I wholeheartedly agree! With it being THE one-stop-shopping place for all things baseball, I look for them to eventually broadcast at least one game a night.
