MLB network

I'll assume that is an optional package beyond what one normally subs to? How much do they get for it? Still might come out to the same since you need the 200 channel package from dish to get the channel.

I understand blackout rules, and I think I'd get the Red Sox-Rangers game tonight, as here in Michigan, we'll have the Tigers game locally. But, if the Tiger game was the primary game, what channel is the alternate game on? I might have missed that in the 10 pages of posts since yesterday:)

Black rules are only one criteria MLB Net uses. They mostly broadcast using their own regional maps.

why is the red sox/rangers game blacked out in Northern California on MLBN?
Again, it is not black out rules, it is regional. Your region is scheduled to get the ChiSox and Tigers on the alternate channel. Without the alternate channel you are unable to see the game that is being broadcast in your region

here in springfield mo it's the redsocks game. I would think it would be the other one.

blacked out on MLB Network even though my blackout teams are arizona/colorado. No problem with either game on my MLB.TV roku/PC subscription.

I bet there is carriage language between MLB Network and DISH that anyone who gets it in freeview (i.e. those not in AT200, latino dos, or sportspack) will have to have live MLB games blacked out regardless of region.

Same problem here only I'm in Minnesota. If they are trying to get me to sign up they are not impressing me.

not going to pay $13-15 more per month just for MLB Network when I can get the games on my MLB.TV subscription and highlights and analysis on ESPN Baseball Tonight or on the MLB.COM video section. Some of the documentaries interest me, but not at $13-15 more per month to my AT120 package.

what local market? Working fine here in the Duluth DMA. Have Welcome Pack :)

Its been noted above...MLB Net sets their own regional coverage. If you are in the teams claimed area you're blacked out (and normally would get the alt game) but some folks get blacked out and can see the alt game too. Dish isnt carrying the alt channel yet so folks are getting screwed

Alright, I have to say, that is stupid. I totally blame MLBN for that one. People who follow my posts know I'm not hesitant to lambast Dish Network on occasion if it's warranted, but in this case, I have to give them a pass. I mean, come on! What sort of nonsensical split broadcast rules are MLBN following anyway? It's not even standard blackout rules, which are confusing/annoying enough.

In a perfect world, I'd just say any nationally telecast game should be nationally telecast. No regionalization, no blackouts, no anything. If you get the channel anywhere in the 50 United States or DC, you get the game. Simple as pie. Unfortunately, sports leagues and television networks tend to overcomplicate things and turn watching your favorite team or a game of the week into some sort of weird three dimensional chess game/lottery where who knows which game if any you're going to get.

Since the games (except Thursdays) are being taken from the RSN feeds (they are using NESN tongiht) if you are in the teams home area you should be blacked out forcing you to watch it on the local RSN.
But to randomly black it out is stupid....that I agree with
Last year we got both games with the only blackout being if the local team was on

My guess is that if your within the viewing area of any of the four teams (the second game is AZ @ SF) you are suppose to get the two other games on the MLB alt channel which DISH does not have...yet.

I even called into tech support. First tech couldn't answer why I wasn't getting the channel so they elevated me. Second person told me it was blacked out. Sounds like this wasn't the correct answer ???

umm, then don't upgrade?!?!?

I agree; it is stupid. The reason why I posted this 10 times already is because I knew this was going to happen. I knew people were going to be upset about the MLB Network game coverage area rules, and I knew without the Alternate channel half of the Dish subs will be left without a game half of the time. I posted this yesterday just to warn people of what to expect.

I canceled EI on Direct and went with MLB.TV this year instead because it is less expensive and I get more viewing options (more devices and more places to watch)

So living in Massachusetts i knew the sox rangers game would be blacked out, but why can't I watch the diamond backs and giants? There is no way that any convoluted rules would place the Boston DMA anywhere near arizona or san francisco.

Again...Again...Again... It has nothing to do with blackout rules. If you are in a region that gets the Alternate games for that day, then you can only watch the alternate games.

Something is messed up with my receiver. When I go to the main channel - 153 I get an error 013 "Programming Not Authorized". When I go to channel 446 which I believe is the alternate channel I get a 743 error "Not available in my area", which makes sense.

Called tech support and they tried to reauthorize the channel. No go on channel reauthrizatin. Sent to tier 2 support. They said MLB channel is having problems with some subscribers and there wasn't anything they could do. If It's not working tomorrow I'm supposed to call back. Sigh....................... Sure, nothing better to do than to reboot my receiver a few more times.
