To no one surprise here, a Best Buy has been caught showing a hdtv calibrated with hd and a hdtv beside it with non hd material. Trying to show the difference getting a Best Buy calibration. We have several Best Buys in my area and have seen this set up but the stores here do show hd material on both tv's. While I would NEVER get a tv calibrated from Best Buy and I think this read would come to no surprise from anyone here.

Gregg Loewne will get a laugh on this one. And probably a few more clients.;)

Having them calibrate an HDTV is like having their Geek Squad fix the home PC. The real professionals out here in the real world that fix computers laugh/cry when we go to a new customer's house or office and discover their horrible previous experience with a Geek Squad "Double Agent." Best Buy needs to stick to selling stuff cheap (which isn't always the case but many times) and let real professionals handle professional level services. Their proven track record of poor service and data theft alone in the computer world should open people's eyes to STOP USING GEEK SQUAD!

I got a free visit from the Geek Squad. They knew less than me. Still wanted me to pay for a return visit.

It's interesting the demo in the photo uses LGs. My local BB uses XBRs in theirs, both clearly using the same HD loop that runs throughout the store, but in light of this I would have to question whether they did something to the non-cal set to make the image look less clear and the colors muddier.

Also, unless I'm mistaken, doesn't ESPN HD have "ESPNHD" on it's news scroll bar? I mean if you're going to try and scam people, you have to be somewhat smart. Even if you're gullible and don't realize that it's SD vs HD, if you're comparing PQ you're going to be looking very closely, and a difference like that is pretty significant. You see one tv that says "ESPN" and another that says, "ESPNHD."

DVD Recorder with COMPONENT /HD input?
