good morining all, i have a new problem with the mio, chewie got me working the other day, but now when i do a software update vie the internet, ( using openatv ) default on setup_1, all goes well untill it it asks me if i want to reboot after doing the upgrade, when i select ok, the box starts to reboot, but then stops with " boot " on the box and " edision " the tv screen. using chewie reboot routine, i see that setup_2 has an astric (*) at the far right side of slot/slat #2, also if i goto the menues for loading new images, setup_2 is missing i only have 1,3,4 no # 2, how can i remove the astric from # 2 and make it active again, thanks all. ps factory reboot doesn't clear problem.

Are you familiar with Telnet? If so, there is a command to clear multiboot slot(s).
The astric means you are currently booted and using that slot.Change to slot 1 in the blue screen.Even if it is stuck on boot you will be on slot 1. Download a current multiboot image and put it on a flash drive and flash slot 1 by unplugging the power with the flash drive attached. Plug back in power.It should boot up properly once flashed and flash drive removed.Then you can reflash other images to slot 2,3 and 4.
Scrap that flashing method for multiboot. Tested it and did not work. Boot up in start 2 and use the downloaded images folder to flash slot 1,3 or 4 with a new current multiboot image.

I'm still learning new things all the time myself with enigma2 and the Mio4k. I do know have to get another slot working before slot 2 can be cleared with a telnet command or the mio4k will be stuck in boot all the way around until slot 1 is reflashed with a flash drive with non multiboot image or ofg write telnet command with a multiboot image.mememeth , Go ahead and first follow SDA_FL_USA directions. installed on the ipad, , what is ofg write telnet command with multiboot, , i tried using webif , and looked at all the menues but nothing about multiboot, then accidently hit the webif reboot button on the lert side near the number pad and locked the box up again, tomorrow more hair pulling, start over again bu reflashing openatv in slot 1. keep u all informed..

If you want openatv in slot 1 I would get a fresh up to date download. The version that came preinstalled is old kernel 4.19.0 that is why the online update did not work and got stuck in boot. you can emmc flash slot 1 does not have to be a multiboot image. when you download the image unzip to the usb flash drive, open the osmio4k folder on the usb drive and delete the splash BIN file if any, rename noforce to force.Using the blue boot screen select startup_1.
After it boots insert usb flash drive and power cycle, it should start the flash process by itself and wait for finish.As soon as it reboots remove the flash drive.

ok, did new install via internet, todays openatv, kernal is oe alliance 4.2, if i go to multiboot i can select startup_1 or startup_2, if i select save 1 it will boot to openatv, if i select 2 it will freeze on boot. if i do the remove power and press menu on remote on powerup i get the blue screen to select which setup to use and the astric is still there on slot 2. so no joy this am still unable to overwrite new image into slot 2,
Ok now that you have openatv working, with the remote press menu/setup/software management/flash online. have internet connected.
yellow button set startup2 once you get slot 2 working. Slot 1 can be eMMc flashed with something new with a flash drive. just make sure to be booted on slot 1 when eMMc flashing.

got a little confused, but i believe i have new image in slot 2, but got confused on eMMc flash to slot 1,,
i think i still have orginal openatv but upgraded to todays date in slot 1, have setup tuner " a " for a bird and have picture, now in slot 2 i think i have another working openatv image working but no time or birds programed into it, now that if i boot on slot 2 it no longer freezes in boot mode, i thank you, now how do i overwrite slot 2 with a different image ,like i was trying to do before i screwed up, i would like to try putting openpli in slot 2 , when aviable i want to put satdreamgr na version in slot 4, again thank you.

I'll say this Mememeth, by the time you are done, you are going to be the image flashing expert, lol.
Personally, just getting this up and running really well on a single image while learning is plenty for old guys like us that have never dealt with anything but appliance receivers. Playing with secondary images can wait for a few weeks down the road, IMO.

Should have told you to do the backup settings option with the online flash. You would of kept the sats and channels from slot 1 if you have any.
You could do the online flash again with backup selected and flash to slot 3 or 4.You need slot 1 available for eMMc flash with a flash drive.I would put openpli on slot 1 then use downloaded images folder to flash multiboot files to other slots.Multiboot files are Rootfs and Kernel. emmc is emmc.img.
When you download the images and unzip to flash drive open up the osmio4k folder on the flash drive and you can see the files.If you download multiboot image all you will see is rootfs, kernel and image version.To do the emmc flash don't download a multiboot image.Most emmc flash downloads has the rootfs and kernel it will work as multiboot image to use with downloaded images folder.
i must be a glutin looking for trouble, i have openatv in slot 1-favtory install , had bad image in slot 2, but somehow thru help from sda and primstar i was able to fill slot 1 with another copy of openatv. i said good, now that i have done and overwritten the bad image in slot let me now try and install pli in slot 2 and overite what is in slot 2, screwed up again, no can do, now lockup when trying to boot from slot 2, time for more advil, will relax for a couple of days , read my notes and try again. unless someone can give exact directions, i still dont understand about eMMc in slot 1, tried to google and just came up with new tupe of memory.
How did you flash slot 2? with a flash drive and unplug power and plug back in? If so that was emmc flash and that can only be done on slot 1.
If slot 1 is still working do online flash to another slot and then flash Pli to slot 1 with the flash drive.

with file zilla connect to root of the mio4k upload the zipped downloaded multiboot image to /media/hdd/ images.
With the remote go to menu/setup/software management/flash online press the yellow botton to select slot blue button.
Should see the image, click ok will ask if want to backup settings, click no select flash and start installation wizard click ok and flashing will begin.

I can't get "downloaded_ images" folder to work on open atv. But if you can see the images in online flash press yellow button to select the slot.then blue button (local)where you see the images then pick the image you want on the slot you selected.Click ok, if it ask to make backup click no, then it asks some options, choose flash and start installation wizard and then it will start flashing.
