Microsoft has targeted itself to ship a post-launch total of 15 million Xbox 360s within the next 12 months.
The firm says it will have moved 10 million units by the end of this calendar year; currently it has shipped around 5 million units worldwide.
In its fiscal fourth quarter, ended June 30, the firm sold 1.8 million units. In total it has sold 3.3 million machines in the U.S., 1.3 million in Europe and 400,000 elsewhere.
It moved 1.5 million Xbox 360s in the 2005 launch phase, followed by 1.7 million during the first three months of 2006.
Xbox Live has attracted 3 million members worldwide with 18 million downloads from Xbox Live Marketplace.
Revenue at the company's Home & Entertainment division rose to $1.1 billion during its fourth quarter, up 94 percent from $590 million during the same time last year. The division posted a loss of $414 million, up from $201 million last year.
