I would like to share my experience with the MicroHD sensitivity starting a new thread.
I aimed my 6ft Fortec dish to 87W, got all the channels even the RTV Chs at 3800. Swapped my box with my old Openbox S9, no signal at all for 3800, only RVT channels from 4800. I assume the MicroHD tuner is more sensitive than the S9's.
Has anybody else tried a test like this with other receivers?

the 3800 mux is weird on a SSO/Manhattan. Here is a post I made about the quirkiness of it

change the frequency to 3805 or 3810 and it should come in

The good part is the Micro doesnt need to do this....and yes it has a more sensitive tuner. Scott mentioned it too

I have to change my LNB, I was using a Ku/C LNB and I noticed there was a little bit of signal at 3800. THen I Decided to use a dual C-Band LNB. Bingo! Now, as you said, the saddest part is that the programs are almost the same, just another 48 channels of the same RTV Et Al. But still is one or two new channels there.
By the way, my dish is only a motorized 6', like yours.

I tried with my WSI Bargain 6ft and Dual out put C-Band LNB to get those without success. I really don't know why I'm not picking those up. BTW, where are you located? Maybe the foot print is not very strong over here.
