Recording Playback Issue

Hardrive is always connected to my MicroHD. I record PBS shows on a regular basis and watch them usually with no problem. Every so often(weeks to months interval) the MicroHD can't playback many of the older files. They show up in the DVR menu list but nothing happens when I try to play them i.e. the screen is blank and the elapsed time indication seems to run at 3x to 6x speed or jumps erratically. The TS files play fine when I connect the drive to my PC using VLC player. A scan/check with TS Doctor using the info3.dvr files shows no errors. Running CHKDSK and other basic windows tools reveals shows no issues with drive.

This is the 2nd drive I've tried and am having the same issues. Disk is NTFS format and was wiped clean before use. Current disk utilization is 175GB of 931GB total.

Any Ideas?

I had this same issue and Primestar31 had suggested doing a full format of the drive, not a quick format, that took care of it for me. Here's the thread on it:

I ran into this 2 years ago and has happened on separate external hard drives and one USB stick. Never resolved.
