I have 3 differant meters and my partner has 1 and they all have went bad in the past month. The first one was a "acutrac 22 pro" it was about a month old so I thought I just got a defected one, then my old "acutrac" never like it from the get go its about 3 years old and then my old fathful my "digastat II" in the same timeing my partners "acutrac 22" has went bad. This is a big quinsadent that they all went bad in the same month. I have been using old fathful for about 5-6 years now never had a problem.
My partners telling me that it is probably the cell phones that we use "nextel". Been using for about 8 months now. I do know that the phone does cause alot of interferance with the meter if I am using the meter and someone calls me or the radio is in use. The phone will play with my PC screen the same way and the sterio in my truck. Could this be the problem or is it one of the new birds in the sky playing havick on my meters. Any thoughts would be great.

Could be the barrel connectors finallly went bad, just a thought, mine did. Digistat that this. I took it to a local cell phone company and he resoutered it for me for $20.00 just my situation and something you may check into. I used to use Nextel and the meters never went bad on me from that.

Ya the reason I don't think it's the phone is, we have been using them for about 8 month's and this just happened this month. But I don't understand what happened to them all. 1 or 2 I can understand and maybe do something differant but 4 I don't understand.

Had all three been used on the same job, before going bad? If so, were the receivers or ground connected when peaking the dish? A lot of "what ifs" but have seen errant voltage get on the cable line from both receivers and poor grounds enough to surge a meter.

FWIW

Nope, I can say that 2 were used on the same job when I first noticed one going bad. True alot of whatif's. The only time that a reciever or ground and my meter is connected at the same time is on service calls. I usally site in the dish before connecting any other things. Don't know what it could have been but I got my new one replaced from perfect 10 and going to keep a close eye on this one. The only thing that upsets me is my old faithful has died. It was a sad day. :(
