Metallic package not required?

I got my 622 receiver installed today and thought I would be required to upgrade to one of the new packages, but instead I still have all my old channels (AT180 & HD & Voom) plus HD locals. If all I'm missing is ESPN2, Universal, and the new Voom channels, then I might just stick with this. I thought a metallic package was a requirement of activating HD on the 622, but I guess I was wrong?

They're supposed to make you upgrade to at least Dish HD Bronze, but I guess the CSR slipped up and just activated the receiver.

The equivalent HD package would be the DishHD gold package? If my math is correct, you're probably paying $5 less then the gold package + locals. Probably worth the extra $5 for the missing HD channels, IMO.

They have an HD-Only pack if you've already met your contract.

They also have a $6 charge for not subscribing to a metal package.

I had written DISH about this very subject, contemplating the 622 upgrade, and was told (in writing) that I could keep my AT180+locals+SHO/HBO+HD pack and not "go metallic." Seemed to be about the same price, and I am not interested in the channels in the metal packages. I JUST WANT OLN BACK!!!
