I want to take this time to thank every one of you that have served in the military at one point or another. I appreciate the sacrifices you have made so that we may enjoy the freedoms we have today. THANKS!!!
I had the pleasure of organizing a homecoming party yesterday for 120 returning Marine reservists after a 7 month deployment in Afghanistan. Over 1000 family members and friends as well as members of my Elks Lodge had the All American picnic with hamburgers and hot dogs with the trimmings and witnessing the reunion of those families. 4 of the soldiers had the opportunity of seeing their children for the first time. Sent shivers up my back and tears to my eyes.
I usually try to make early morning visits to the Quantico and Arlington national cemeteries, but I will be visiting the graves of my grandfather and great great uncle later this morning - they fought in World War's I and II.
We had National Guard return about 2 weeks ago to a Parade etc. after a year in Afghanistan, working or I would make sure there was a Flag at my Dad's headstone (WWII) we replaced his military headstone when my Mother died. (it's out back at my place)
