Many long time owned subs are finally leaving in droves/how to fix dish bag network

I dont think you will see many people leaving, you will see many people downgrading their programming (myself included)

My bill would be going up over $50 a month just in equipment costs. So some cuts had to be made somewhere. I sure hope that DISH understands they screwed up here bigtime.

I have been thinking of writing some of the programmers such as HBO, Showtimes and Starz and telling them why I no longer subscribe to their channels. But havent done so yet.

Scott I can allready name 10 people who have allready left and that's in these forums alone!!

You forgot constant channel drops.

And Hidden price increases.

??

Constant channel drops? That's a bit of a stretch don't you think? Sure there have been some drops, more than D*, but 'constant' isn't right at all.

As to hidden price increases, well I got a letter about them before they started.

Please note that I'm not happy with the increases, especially the equipment fees (laughingly called 'lease fees'). I'm paying $17 for a 625!

But I've looked at what I want to watch, and at the moment that is only with E*, and I look at the bottom line. If I were to switch, after all the rebates and other such stuff, D* would be about $10 cheaper but I wouldn't have BBCA-HD, Epix and other HD channels that I find have value to me.

They were presented in post #14 in this thread. RussTC3 did a good job. Dish is adding more subs than DirecTV.

That doesn't show churn of long time unhappy customers leaving. Dish always is happy to subsidize the new customers coming in, to keep those numbers looking good. We all know that.

And those numbers are BEFORE the major receiver price increases hit.

Those facts were prior to the disney dispute and prior to D*'s rolling out its Whole home DVR service. They were pushing it pritty hard this quarter. It would be intresting to see the numbers for this quarter (right now)

Also, who's to say that nobody's cooking the books? If dish cant be trusted with programming negotations, and even the goverment cant trust dish with Distant networks, who's to say that dish isnt intentionally cooking the books, or paying off the independent auditor. Fraud like that happens all the time... Look at Illinois past governers all in jail, or soon to be... George Ryan, and then the man known as Blogggggggoooooooo!!!!!!!!!! Just sayin, if it can happen there, it can happen anywhere.

Post this letter giving us even 1 days notice before we got our bill.

I would love to see it.;)

Giving a bill and saying that there have been updates on your bill this month, is not notice.

If I still had it, I would post it. It was by snail mail and came about a week before I got the bill with the increases in it. I think, but am not sure, that it came in after the equipment charge changes though. And if my aging memory serves correctly, it didn't even talk about the equipment charge changes, only the programming changes.

So I guess, +! for you for a hidden equipment charge change and -1 'cause the programming one was sent to me a week ahead of the changes. ;)

I'm talking also about the ,Multi Sports pack increase,Superstation increase, Premium increase, Dropping channel that have been standard in the base HD packs for years and adding them to a higher pack. HD Theater. Yep including in the top 100 pack , thats how far back that went with just the Plain old $10 HD pack.

Now Moved to Platinum.

Things change over time and channel moves to different tiers is nothing new to either sat provider. I usually have the Everything pack, HD and a Vip722k. Added HD Platinum because of Epix and other channels. The lowest I've had is the 250 w/HD so I guess I never noticed the changes since it didn't affect me.

I notice you have D* now, hope you got an HR24 and not the pathetic previous model HRs. The HR21 I had was the sole reason I got rid of D*. It was either cancel D* or throw the remote out the window!! :)

Hmm, I never received a letter. Guess it was for select subs.

I had been a long time Dish Network customer and I left last week. I left because of all the problems with my account and the high equipment fees. I gave them a chance to fix my account problems for a year and nobody gave a crap about fixing it. I voiced my frustrations with this company by dropping them. I always said that if you want this company to listen, do it with your wallet.

Most of you know that I've always defended Dish Network when the Directv members came to the Dish Network forum but now I sit on the other side of the fence. Boy, I can now understand how the Directv members felt about us Dish Network members. For SOME of you, Dish Network cannot do wrong, Charlie walks on water like somebody else said in one of the post. All I can say is that we all have a choice and if Dish Network meets your needs, good for you but don't try to ignore the problems that a lot of customers are having with Dish Network. Their new policies and their billing and equipment system needs fixing. Oh and the programming disputes, these disputes are just bad PR for the company.

My two cents and I know I'll get the usual "Bye, See ya, Don't let the door hit......." :)

I'm bored now because I can't find anything else to fix or complain with Directv. :)

Edit: Forgot to add, I know Directv also has problems and I expect to have some issues with them but nothing like Dish Network.

Good post, Randall.

Some here just are not willing to take the blinders off, and see the reality.

I am not unhappy enough to quit yet, but I am definitely dissatisfied.

Still trying to find a 612 to replace that $17 622!!

I've had both and wouldn't rave about either when it comes to customer service. It all depends on who answers the phone all too often. Both can be extremely frustrating to deal with, but not nearly as hard as Verizon!

And talking with the wallet is the only language either one understands, and I'm not sure they really grasp that concept either. As long as both have net increases of subscribers, they will continue to think they are doing it all right. :(

I had looked at moving to D* also. The way I had hoped it might work would be to get the new customer deal, get 2 HR24s, do MRV and all. I knew I would lose BBCA=HD and the Epix and other channels if I did change. For bad or good, I hadn't been gone from D* long enough for them to want to offer me anything other than send me whatever HR was laying around and turning it on and then charge the full rate. That was a non-starter from my point of view. The main reason for looking at that was MRV.

Frankly I'm paying a fair price for what I get, and I do like the Vip722k a lot and would miss the channels, but you know if you hang long enough, you get used to it.

At some future time I may revisit a change.

Yep they are still the same, I didn't get the Hr24, I got the HR23 which is just as bad as the old ones.

One thing E* will always have , The Best HD DVRs on the planet.
