Nework kicks off high-def cooking show

U.S.-based Voom HD Networks is launching a high-def cooking show featuring Aussie chef Luke Mangan, with its co-production partners in Asia, Singapore's Mega Media and the Media Development Authority of Singapore.

"Appetizing Adventures With Luke Mangan" will take the chef on a culinary road trip throughout Asia as he seeks inspiration for new dishes for his restaurants in Sydney, Tokyo and San Francisco. The series will premier in late 2007 on Voom's Ultra HD channel, followed by distribution throughout the world.

SINGAPORE, June 28: VOOM HD Networks, Singapore’s Mega Media and the Media Development Authority of Singapore (MDA) have collaborated for the new HD culinary series Appetizing Adventures with Luke Mangan, set to premiere on VOOM’s Ultra HD channel later this year.

Currently in production, the 8x30-minute series resulted from a co-production agreement reached between the three companies at MIPCOM 2005. Appetizing Adventures with Luke Mangan follows renowned Australian chef Luke Mangan as he takes an exotic culinary road trip throughout Asia to seek inspiration for new dishes for his acclaimed restaurants in Sydney, Tokyo and San Francisco.

Appetizing Adventures with Luke Mangan also joins a growing list of co-production projects generated by VOOM HD Networks, Mega Media and the MDA, including the recent BMX P.I.G. and Metro BMX Jam: Singapore, which feature world-class international athletes in competitive cycling events, and New Revolution, an eight-part computer gaming documentary being shot across Asia.

A number of successful HD programs have already rolled out from the trio’s co-production agreement, including the fashion reality series Style Me with Rachel Hunter, travel documentaries Ultra Eye Tokyo and Ultra Eye Singapore and sports documentaries Beyond the Edge—The F1 Powerboat; Rainforest Challenge: Muds, Guts and Glory; Planet Parkour Singapore and Hope on the Andaman Coast—a Cliff Diving Expedition.
