I am looking for a STB that has 2 sets of S-video outs (or an s-video and component out), and supports DD5.1. I currently have a 301, and just purchased a Panny E80 recorder, and would like a STB of "higher quality". I'm really looking for something like a 501 without PVR. What's out there (that's reliable)?

I have a 4900 for sale here that will work

Unless you have Dish Pro LNB.

1-set s-video
2- Rca

Look at product brochures

OK... I looked at EBAY, and 501's and 4700's are reasonable... if I buy another 501, will they charge me an extra $5/mo.? I do not pay the $5 PVR fee on my current 501, they said they only charge that on new 508 and 510 boxes, but I'm thinking maybe a second one would get charged because it's a new purchase (the Dish rep wasn't sure)... she just said she was sure there was no extra chrage if I bought a 4700. Any quality difference in a 4700 and a 501?

You might consider something like this

to split your svideo out into two svideo outs. I've never actually used one so I can't comment if there is any notibale signal loss.

If you also only have one set of audio RCA outs, you can get two RCA Y cables to turn each of your single LEFT, RIGHT AUDIO OUTS into 2 LR AUDIO OUTS. I use these:

for my new 811 as I needed 3 RCA AUDIO OUTS and I only had 2. I can't notice any difference in quality using these.
