Lost signal for the 1st time today...

I lost my E* satellite signal for the first time today while watching the Daytona 500. :( I was relaxing, eating a pizza and drinking a Corona in my nice warm house during a pretty wet and heavy snow storm, thinking to myself how cold it was outside and how grateful I was that I hadn't lost signal due to the storm.

Just as I thought that, the signal started to get pixilation and boom gone. Chit I thought  :D . I waited a few minutes and then figured that there was snow buildup on my dish. I went outside in my shorts and t-shirt freezing my @$$ off and sure enough, there it was. My dish was no longer grey it was white and camouflaged in my snowy backyard. :no So I took my bare hand and wiped it off :shocked . Damn that was some wet packy cold snow. Now my signal is back and I am watching the race again in my warm home. (and typing this now haha).

Oh well, I am just glad I don't have my dish mounted on my 2-story house, I wouldn't have been able to reach it... :D

Hope you enjoyed my experience as much as I did. Ok It wasn't very enjoyable but thought I'd share it...LOL

One of the stupidest things I ever did was climb up to the second story roof after a heavy wet snow to clean my Dish 500 and 300. Since I'm here typing this, it went well, but KIDS, DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME!!!!!!!!!

And I know (approximately) where Sheboygan is. My Dad has a vacation home on Beaver Island where we used to pull in Escanaba and Green Bay TV stations on a good night. Occasionally we'd hear about Sheboygan, which stuck in my mind because we would also watch Channel 4 out of Cheboygan, MI.

fox lost the signal for about two to three minutes during the race. both the fox feeds and in car feeds where down for a couple of minutes. i am not sure if it was national, but it happened in my area.

Nope that didn't happen here unless it was when I lost the signal due to the snow build-up on my dish...oh well I say... :)

My FOX OTA ATSC affiliate had lots of problems with the audio. Half the time, it sounded like the announcers were phoning it in (nothing higher than 3Khz), then someone would change something, and it sounded like I had my family room in the middle of the infield.

BTW, did anybody hear the "f^ck" from the spotter during the replay of one of the accidents? Think the FCC will come after their buddies at Fox like they did CBS and NBC?

No loss of signal in Louisville... OTA..

I always keep my dishes within range of a broom while standing on the ground - except for 148. It was easiest to get LOS by putting it higher on the house. Of course, it never holds snow because the pan is vertical - 148's elevation is like 23 here.

Yeah, if I was in Colorado like SimpleSimon, I'd be out on the slopes and not inside watching TV, but that's just me... :)
