Okay, here's a "duh" for you.
There was a problem with the guide data over the weekend--it was
centralized and therefore not any local you the individual boxes in almost
all cases.
There was a bit of a breakdown in escalation and it went on a lot longer
than it should have.
Sorry about the inconvenience.

Well, another soft reboot (my 4th total reboots) and the guide returned
after 1 1/2 hours Sunday evening.

Other than this ocassional issue, still loving VOOM and ready to drop
Dish once HGTV becomes available in sd package. I keep Dish basic for
this single channel for the family.

I have had no IPG problems to date. About the only software problem I've had is the occassional loss of audio when I tune to a channel. The fix is easy. Just channel up one and then back to the channel you wanted. So far, the audio has always resumed then. I understand that this is a Software Vers. 6.20 glitch so rather than ask for a replacement receiver I thought I'd just wait for the next upgrade.

Thanks for the information, Wilt. Lots of unneccesary reboots then.

Is it best to put the stb in standby each evening, or can it be left ON 24/7 as I have been doing?

The customer service tech to whom I spoke said that most problems come when the box is left on overnight.She said that my problem was due to tthe box being left on an when VOOM sent several downloads. I didn't buy what she said. Obviously, your explanation for this problem had nothing to do with leaving the box on.

But what would be the best tthing to do?
