I tend to be long winded, so grab a cup of joe -- or your favorite beverage -- and see if you might be able to help out a frustrated Red Sox fan. :coffee

I updated my programming two days ago using the online Dish website. I've used it before without problem.

I removed the Multi Sport Package and added HBO (at their half off offer). The change went through fine and I was getting HBO minutes later.

Last night I noticed one of my two RSN's was missing -- NESN. I figured it was an abnormal glitch, but searched the Internetz for a bit and didn't find anything relevant (guess I didn't look hard enough).

So I called Customer Support today and they were pleasant, but totally scripted. At first, they tried to tell me that NESN was only available in MSP and I very patiently explained that no, it was one of my RSN's -- I'd been watching it for years and only had MSP for one season. Nothing on their website indicates any change in the sports programming like this.

Well, 40 minutes later we'd reached the end of his script, having reset the 722k, unplugged it, reset the satellite settings, verified every ID and version number, etc. Still no channel 434.

The final step in his script is to send me replacement DVR's because clearly it must be a hardware problem.

I politely disagreed and let him know that I am a computer specialist and this made no sense whatsoever.

And of course, if I followed through with his suggestion, I would be forced to go buy an EHD (which I was planning on doing, anyway) to save off my content. And of course, they only send refurbished units with who knows how many hours on the HD's (which might be a new part, but it's a total dice roll, afaik).

Anyway, before I call them back, I decided to do a bit more research and stumbled upon this wonderful site. Where have you been all these years??? lol...

A thread from April posted by a fellow Vermonter - ZoomVT (which I'm not allowed to link to yet, it appears), has given me a modicum of hope, but there was no resolution posted that I could find.

Can anyone give me some further guidance on what to do next? Is it worth bothering a DIRT with this issue and can they help?

Thank you!!

Oh -- and I want my blasted AMC and IFC back, thank you very much (just though I'd throw that in there, heh). I actually watched those networks quite a bit and I'm really PO'd.

Did I mention I tend to be long winded?

As a red Sox fan I am in total sympathy. Did they even ask you where you lived to determine if you are eligible?

Asa newbie you probably don't know what DIRT refers to but it is the DISH internet response team. they follow the boards and can be quite helpful

sounds like a glitch. I know when you go from a package with your RSN and add the sports pack Dish does something in the computers which "removes" your local RSN (s) and adds the rest.
When you go back to just your RSN the computer needs to readd the RSN (s) for your area

Thanks for the quick responses everyone!

I figured out what DIRT meant after reading a few threads, but I wasn't sure what kinds of problems they helped out with.

And I was pretty sure this could get resolved without replacing my DVR's, which most likely would not fix my problem, but I wasn't looking forward to how much phone time that might take.

He is in Vermont which should give him NESN and CSN NE

On the dish site I plugged in Burlington as example. Shows these as his RSN's
Station
CSN New England
New England Sports

Hi NoWave, :welcometo Sat Guys!! I apologize for the delay in a response from DIRT. Can you please PM me your account or phone number so i can research this issue for you. Thank you!

I really appreciate having someone from Dish helping out here. Especially after a frustrating phone experience.

But I'm curious as to what the success rate is with these assisted incidents? Just so I can set my expectations accordingly...

You mean success rate with a DIRT member? Virtually any problem that has a solution will get done. There are some things that are Dish policy and can't be changed. There are some things that have a solution, but it takes engineering or some department to get it done, meaning the DIRT member can identify the problem, but may not be able to fix it on their own. But most of the everyday annoyances/.problems can be addressed. I don't think there is an equivalent level of CSR anywhere else in the TV realm, other than the other forum where they also lay in wait. :)

Where do I check software version?

Anyone with 2H 0J send me a PM
