A couple of days ago I discovered I had no longer any audio on embedded video clips in websites. However, I still have sound from windows Media Player and QuickTime players. That eliminates hardware issues.

I have not reinstalled Flash and was planning to research that next. All embedded video clips play fine but no sound. I even get the VU monitors responding when they are present in some of these embedded players.

This is just happening on one computer. Any ideas?

This is so strange it seems to be paranormal!

So my sound on any embedded audio on the internet has simply disappeared on this computer but this evening I was working on some work work on another computer and all of the sudden I got this NWS weather alert. I've had thos loaded on the computer for 6 months now but it too lost sound as that is also a browser embedded audio. But this evening for the first time in a couple weeks the sound alert came on because a thunderstorm was brewing. I had had the volume control cranked in my tests so when it came on it about knocked me off my chair. I went to a Youtube website and all the You TUBE videos played like there hasn't been anything wrong. Is this crazy or what?

I had one on my Mac that was driving my a little crazy. I could hear sound like sound effects for events, but when I was trying to preview a video slideshow I was working on, I couldn't hear the music I had selected.

Turns out I had my Airport Express selected in iTunes as my speakers and since I didn't have the stereo turned on at the time, I never heard it coming from the other room. Seems all the iLife apps use iTunes' audio preferences to determine where the sound should play.

The only thing I can think of is I added a MagicJack to this computer around the time I lost the web embedded sound on my sound card. I could certainly do some tests to se if uninstalling and reinstalling Magicjack has effect.
