Loss of Signal in Rain

Yes. The harder the rain is the less signal there is to your receiver. Now if it settles down to a light rain ,you should still be able to see the satellite. I have had days with drizzle and light rain and still can watch the satellite. But if it rains cats and dogs you can forget about it. Also a trick is if you have ota tuner and antenna and it is hooked into your receiver, you can still turn to an ota channel via the guide and watch it while the rain is still pouring.

Another trick with the Hopper 3 is the four-channel PIP. You could have as many as two OTA channels and two satellite channels on the screen at the same time. This way, you can still watch those OTA channels, and be instantly alerted when the satellite signal returns, when the picture reappears in those quadrants.

Good idea! I do have the OTA antenna hooked up but "unscanned" them. Maybe I will put back in for rainy weather!

We had a pretty heavy rain earlier in the week. This happened while we were watching a show on ID, and we lost the HD feed. I tuned to the SD channel and we continued watching the show until the rain slowed, then switched back to the HD channel. We are on western arc, and I think the HD feed is on the 129 satellite, while the SD version is on 110.
