Los Angeles Spotbeam?

I know I read somewhere that HD from LA was on a spotbeam. Also, I thought I had read that they, Direct, was going to eliminate this and put HD on Conus. Is this true? Thanks

No, it was something I read last year. I don't live where my service is and I pick up the locals with no problem, I just don't get those stations in HD. No big deal but I thought Direct was going to put HD on Conus so I would be able to pick up outside of the spotbeam. Thanks

LA locals, because they are available as DNS anywhere in the western half of the country are both spotbeam and CONUS.

MPEG2 HD versions are CONUS and those are what is being converted to MPEG4, again CONUS. This is only the "big 4" and available for DNS. These are the ones in the 80's.

MPEG4 HD locals are on spotbeam only to the LA area. This may include more then just the big 4. These are the same channel number as the OTA channel number.
