I'm sorry I am posting in this section. I tried the FTA equipment section, but I apparently am not authorized to post in that one.

In any case, I have two hidef receivers (Sonicview and Viewsat)

I have two SD receivers (Viewsats)

I see the connections on the back for connecting to other receivers via the loop out/ loop through cables, but none of the manuals get specific about how exactly to wire them up, and what happens when you do.

Right now I have c-band through the Sonic and Ku through the Viewsat HD. I have run out of HDMI inputs on my home theater receiver. I have the Sonic connected via component cables, not HDMI.I wonder if I could route both receivers through the one HDMI output cable. What exactly would happen if I hooked them together via the loop connectors? Are there settings I would have to choose? Can someone offer a diagram?

Thanks in advance

loop through to next receiver lnb in

if 1 st receiver is on second receiver will get same polarity
if 1st receiver is off the second receiver will control polarity

you might be served better doubling up your satellite list to do both c & ku on each receiver and then using something like a multiswitch ( but without running dual lnb this would limit you to one polarity on the second receiver unless the first is off)

you should be able to post over there

Thanks.

Actually I like having one receiver for Ku and the other dedicated to C-band.

I find, on both receivers, when I enter in a lot of satellites and a lot of stations, freezing is much more common. Having c on one and Ku on the other limits the number of stations on either.

Thanks, but now that I know I have to go from loop through to lnb in, hooking up this way appears to give me no benefit - without a switch, I would have only one input. I need two. Thanks again. I'm cutting and pasting your post into my files

yes i understand this method its how i have my coolsats kinda one is ku only and other is c & ku but i use a channel editor and can easily remove or load a default list back to the boxes. for me its the fastest way to add or remove channels....

one method you might can use is get a multi HDMI selector that way you can choose the input to your tv. my tv has three hdmi inputs so i didn't need it

Actually, every couple of weeks I upload my channel and satellite data to USB. It's come in handy in certain kinds of problems.

I have also used Channel editor.

the equipment review area only mods can start a thread. Folks can respond but its an area only for reviews :)

My loop out does not work on my pansat 9200 HD.
It does not work with the receiver on or off.

strange. It's always been that way. I just used a 2 way (both ports power pass dc) high frequency splitter.
Accomplished the same thing.
