I'm looking to make the switch from cable to Dish. My only problem, which a Web search hasn't really helped me with except for topics from several years ago, is this: I live in an apartment, and my "exclusive use" area (the patio) will be borderline as far as being able to get reception or not from what I can gather. There is a tree outside, but it seems that from the direction all other dishes are pointing in the area, I may miss the tree.
I'm not sure what to do. I've asked for a courtesy call to test the signal before I commit to a 24 month contract and they said it was not possible. What happens if I sign up for Dish, the installer comes out, and I can't get a signal? Am I stuck paying the early cancellation fee or am I provided some sort of relief for the installer to simply pack up, tear up the contract, and move on to the next customer? Forgive me if this is elementary, but I just want to cover all my bases before I jump into something for the next 2 years. Thanks!
