14 month old swm dish is not getting some channels. DTV wants $50 to send out a tech. Phone tech had me run tests, mentioned bad multi-switch. When looking at signal strengths they are very week on 103, but ok on 101 (thought realignment might help). I get some pixelization and freezing on "good" channels when it gets windy but not raining.

Bottom line is I don't want to pay DTV to maintain their equipment (especially if i can fix it myself).

Thanks in advance.

Can you post the signal levels for all of the satellites?

sat 101 tuner 1: low 33, high 97, typical 90
sat 101 tuner 2: low 29, high 97, typical 90
sat 99c tuner 1: low 59, high 75, typical 70
sat 99c tuner 2: low 58, high 75, typical 72
sat 103 ca &cb - no signal

Thanks for the help.

When I borrowed a ladder and got on the roof I found;
a LOOSE NUT and a MISSING BOLT on the dish to mast attachment (thats two out of four fasteners)
MISSING BOLT on the bottom that holds mast tilt
LOOSE NUTS in lots of places

It seems that when the installer aimed the dish he did not recheck his assembly and tighten everything.
Once I fixed these issues and plumbed the mast no other adjustments were needed.

Again I wonder why DTV wants to charge me $50 to come repair their 14 month old equipment???

Because they don't look it like most people do. You're leasing it, when you lease a car and something happens out of warranty who pays? Not them, you do. Same way Directv looks at it.
