I need to replace my failed ST9900. I am considering the CoolSat 5000 or the Traxis 3500. The Traxis sort of reminds me of the construction of my st9900 and I am wary about that. With the Coolsat 5000 I not sure about its pal to ntsc conversion does it do that well?
In general I wonder what is the average life of these. I still working from my Pansat 100A.

I have had the same Satworks ST 3618 for nearly 4 years now and I use it EVERY day and take it on every installation/service call. Its NEVER let me down and I will never sell it (Have 2 now THANKS Iceberg) And the Traxis DBS 3500 is a first class receiver that should give YEARS of service, I have had mine for well over 6 months.

I also have Fortec and a BEC receivers, never had a problem with any receiver.

No. The Coolsat does a poor job with a PAL to NTSC conversion. When watching a PAL signal the picture will stutter about every 15-seconds or so. It's actually quite annoying!

BTW... There's PAL on the Atlantic PanAmSats (NHK, et. al.), and APTN on AMC-3.

Well I guess that settles it. I going to be looking at the Traxis 3500.....

Edit.....After reconsidering I saw the deal on the NEUSAT I decided on getting that one. Hope it works out.
