Long delay time to record on HR10-250

I am experiencing very long delay times (3-5 min of Please Wait) when I record a show. I have tried resetting thumbs up/down tivo suggestions. This cut the time to about 25 sec for the first day and then it went back to 3-5 min. I have 30 season passes.
I have a second hard drive add on of 160GB. I don't know if this extra drive affets the delay time.
Anyone else having this problem? Any solutions?
