Locals for Ottumwa/Kirksville

Thanks! I've never been on the Eastern Arc. Is there much of a difference experience wise between EA/WA in Iowa?
The main difference is when it comes to the national channels. Many channels that are carried in HD on Eastern Arc have no SD equivalent. This can be an inconvenience if you like to record the SD feeds to save hard drive space, or if you rely on the SD feeds for backup when the HD feeds are lost due to rain fade. I have both arcs here in Ohio, and in my experience, there is not much difference in the amount of rain fade going from one arc to the other.

EA signal levels are a bit lower than the WA here. I not heard for sure which arc they will stay on.

Happy to see Ottumwa/Kirksville Market Go HD. I'm disappointed they're on 61.5. We along with others in the area are on the other Arc 110/119/129.

5250 KTVO (3 HD) KIRKSVILLE, MO (ABC) added to 61.5° 31s12 (Iowa) (SD MPEG4 Ottumwa, IA/Kirksville, MO market Hidden) AVAILABLE (Limited)
5251 KTOVD (33 HD) CORPUS CHRISTI, TX SV* added to 61.5° 31s12 (Iowa) (SD MPEG4 Ottumwa, IA/Kirksville, MO market Hidden) AVAILABLE (Limited)
5252 KYOU2 (41 HD) OTTUMWA, IA (FOX) added to 61.5° 31s12 (Iowa) (SD MPEG4 Ottumwa, IA/Kirksville, MO market Hidden) AVAILABLE (Limited)
5253 KYOU (15 HD) OTTUMWA, IA (FOX) added to 61.5° 31s12 (Iowa) (SD MPEG4 Ottumwa, IA/Kirksville, MO market Hidden) AVAILABLE (Limited)

After reading the more recent uplink reports, I noticed that those channels on 61.5 are MPEG4 SD. The mapdown channel was incorrectly listed as HD. That has since been corrected.

I'm going to look into a Attic Antenna. I've tried indoor antennas I can get KYOU & PBS Channels but am unable to receive KTVO consistently. Also, it looks a possible dispute with Sinclair is on the Horizon?

Anyone actually seen these locals up yet? I have dish pointed @61.5. Commercial update says should be in Ch 6200s. Also in notes there I’ve seen conflicting info saying both HD &sd with * saying mpeg 4

They were made available on Wednesday, according to the uplink report:

6714 PBS (62 Local) PBS FEED 61.5° TP 7 SD MPEG4 Ottumwa, IA/Kirksville, MO market Hidden – AVAILABLE

Looks like they are all SD.

Maybe they had the extra space at 61.5, and they are going to need that spotbeam capacity at 119 for something else eventually, so they are going to force the entire market to switch to Eastern Arc. That is just a guess.

I had Messaged KYOU & They Indicted Equipment was in Place for HD at their site and they expected HD to be turned on in Early August. Time Will Tell.

Though Nothing has Been brought up DISHs agreement with Sinclair is coming up shortly I believe. I’m wondering if they’re waiting for any potential blackout with Sinclair to be settled before they light the market up in HD? KTVO the ABC/CBS in the Market is owned by Sinclair.

Word I get from Dish is there are technical & contractual issues still to be worked out so the locals remain in sd @ current location. When this is all done HD Locals will be lit up on 61.5 & Kirksville/Ottumwa will become a Eastern preferred market. New work orders will be Eastern Arc. Existing customers can continue (indefinitely at this time) to receiver their locals as they do today in SD with WA antenna. Customers can call in to arrange for an arc flop to get locals in HD if they choose. Not yet determined if Dish will do so at no charge. They are shooting for end of the month Launch which depends on completing the 1st two issues.
