Local Channels in 4.3

My Directv Local Channels are 4.3 picture size (Maryland)
They are broadcast in HD and are 16.9 OTA
All my other HD Channels are 16.9
Is this normal ??
Will they ever be HD and 16.9 on Directv ?

According to the DirecTV web site, you do receive the local stations in HD. Remember that outside prime time many programs are still in 4:3. Have you checked prime time programming on your network stations to see if the channels are in HD 16:9??

I got the same problem sometimes.

I have noticed lately that on cable, the programming on our local channels that are in HD are 16.9 HD sometimes in the daytime and then when I look at Directv, the same show is in 4.3. with bars on the sides. This is happening on the Nashville locals. Is this normal or is directv goofing up somewhere?

Lem52 what do you have the receiver set for as a display?

I was checking today and I originally set the reciever when I got Directv in May, to display original format and native on. Something must have changed it as it was original format and stretch. I put it back to native on.
