For instance with Sling from my Hopper to Laptop. The HD feed on my laptop is not as good as the HD feed coming directly from the Hopper. I assume there is some compression or downscaling slightly to ensure stability even on a >6mbps connection.

Sorry, I just find the encoding method intriguing. That it can go frame by frame, and figure out what portions need a higher density of data. And it does this via merely the data. A VBR for video. I just find it fascinating.Exactly what I was thinking.
