From dbstalk.com, live 4K broadcast feeds apparently up in test for preparation of upcomming PGA event...

+4KTest 9800 40966 13 136 1010 1012 15 4K Linear Test Channel 4K Linear Test Channel.
+4KTest 9801 40966 13 12 1010 1012 10 4K Linear Test Ch #2 4K Linear Test Channel #2

Though for whatever reasons right now there are actually 2 test feeds up on channels 9800 and 9801, coming from D10 xpndr 13 at 103W and D14 xpndr 13 at 99W respectively.

One is going to be a golf channel mix in 4k as well I believe.

Anyone else notice that Channels 9800 and 9801 are showing loops of BKB. 9800 works great for me 9801 has program macroblocking and skips sometimes. This is on my C61K. I havent tested out with my Samsung RVU (HU8550) but will.

Yes, we've been discussing it for a while. Works with the HR34 and Hr44/C61K combo as well as the HR54. But it's using regular transponders not reverse band.

I have the 54 and C61k. How do I view the test channels? Not coming up when I punch them in.

4K on demand works fine for me.

Actually you need to go to the edgecutter forum and sign up as a participant in the cutting edge program, and then take note of the rules.

I would almost want to hold off before investing in an HR54 to see if Directv is going to have an answer to the new hopper.

I can't see Directv letting Dish get away with this

the question is, whats the time frame? the longer it goes the more chance of people switching
i am holding off, but when 4k channels start launching i will have to decide based on whats out there or been announced

I remember when the HR-44 came out.....Hopper had fewer tunners and heard so much about people jumping....

Will see.....I cant imagine the new Direct STBs not having a hard wired output for 4K.....

So I say something new should be around the corner...

I've said before, DirecTv does not need "an answer" to the new hopper. Realize that only an extremely small part of DirecTV's user base cares about this. Most people are perfectly happy with two tuners, or five. If the rumors are true, ATT's next box will be a combined DirecTV/Uverse head end server,

I am told it needs to be a 54. I just submitted my account number (even though I could see the two test channels already)

Thanks Stuart Sweet (SolidSignal) for setting this up.
Others on dbstalk.com are reporting that the HR44 with C61K are receiving the test channels as well.

Don't know about the HR34 (for those still unlucky enough to have one ) or about the H44 with HDD.

Correct they currently are, however with the channels switch over to requiring authorization its my understanding only HR54's will be authorized.
