I have a Linksys BEFSR41 router. Currently the DHCP is set to "Enable". I have recently attached to the router an Azbox DVB receiver that needs a static address. Question is: Can I leave the DHCP enabled and also assign a static address for the receiver, without affecting the other two computer hooked to the router?

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, you can.

Just make sure that the static IP you assign to the receiver is not in the range the Linksys router hands out.

Diogen,
Thanks for your reply. Currently the router is set to 50 max no. of users. The range is 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.254. The router has assigned 192.168.1.100 to the first computer that logged on. The next computer to log on was assigned 192.168.1.101, and the next .102. It appears the router is using a base number of 100 and if so the upper limited would then be .150. If this is the case can I assign any number above .150 up to .254?

Correct.

I'd reduce the DHCP pool to 10 (192.168.1.100 to 192.168.1.109) unless you use switches and have more than 10 IP devices.
And assign static 192.168.1.110 to the receiver.

If you have (or expect) more devices with static IP requirements coming, reserve the first 5 IPs to them and start DHCP from 192.168.1.105.

Diogen,
I have entered the newly minted static address in the router and the receiver and they are happily talking to each other.

Thanks for your help.
