Linking pictures from user gallery into posts?

Anyone know how to do this? I uploaded several pictures into my gallery the other night, intending to link them into a post I was creating. When I tried to create a link, all I could find was a php link from the gallery, and that wouldn't display the picture in the post. I ended up linking to photos I hosted on a personal website, but that isn't the right long term answer.

I think others have done this in the past, so it has to be my stupidity.

I've found individual pictures in other peoples gallery, and linked to those.
You just have to find the picture you want, then click on the image to get a bigger picture, and then capture THAT URL.

And, here's a post I made with three picture links at the bottom.

Using this technique, we don't waste server storage with duplicate pictures.
And I love high resolution photos, because you can often zoom in on them and help someone understand the equipment better.
