Lightning resets VIP622

It has happened twice tonight where about less than 1 second after a lightning strike nearby, my VIP622 resets itself. The box will turn off so that no front lights are on, the fan will go to high for a minute or so, and then the box will come back online. What causes this and how can I prevent it? Any help would be much appreciated.

A UPS will probably fix it

UPS is the only way to go. I have all my computers and all my A/V equipment on UPS - not all on one! I even use a small UPS for my phone.

A lightning strike "nearby" to me warrants turning the unit off & unplugging it (along with all other electronics). Typical lightning doesn't affect my 622.

I agree with the UPS. Some power companies even help (consult) with whole house units.

How about a surge protector? Are you loosing power or spiking?
