Lifetime Gets Backup in EchoStar Spat

We are not talking a one time 4 cent increase here, we are talking an ongoing 4 cent increase.
Lets say that you like that coffee every morning. You pay $1.50 cents for a big container of it. They raise it 4 cents a month on you. By the end of this year it is up to $1.98. By the end of next year it is up to $2.46 and by the end of 2008 it ends up being $2.94. That is a heck of an increase if you ask me. That better be one heck of a container of Joe or maybe they are putting something else in it if they are going to charge that much for it.

Yea, they were real careful to make it look like they put numbers out there, with not disclosing any real information. Also like CP said no mention of LRM and what it would cost to carry that.

I don't think it's 4 more cents every month, your bill would be 4 cents higher for the first year, then the 2nd increase kicks in...

Has charlie mentioned LRW? Maybe it's not really part of the problem. If it was i'm sure they could work out at least a temporary deal to get the 2 main channels back, with increased fees, while working out the 3rd channel issues...

Nobody would care if Spike did this...ESPN being pulled would be a 40 page topic before it was 3 hours old...

Like I said before, unless one, or both of them are idiots (willing to risk a lawsuit) - the most likely scenario is that both sides are telling the truth. We just don't have all the pieces of the puzzle. So the assumption would have to be that LRW was involved or Lifetime wouldn't have said "no where near 76%" - specifically adding "for Lifetime and LMC".

This the most reasonable explaination. For all we know, Charlie himself could have asked for Lifetime Real Woman and was surprised to learn it wasn't included free of charge. Hence, the outragious "76% rate increase" claimed by E* and the "their only specific proposal to us was for a drastic reduction in our rates" made by Lifetime.

It's not likely that Chalrlie would risk the subs for a popular channel to add a channel nobody is asking for.

Don't get me wrong, what Lifetime is doing with LRW, is not at all extraordinary in the industry. The same tactic is why we have 7 or 8 ESPNs, 10 Discovery channels, etc. The only difference is that they do not have the leverage that the larger companies have. Charlie picked this battle because it is one of the few he can "win" with minimal fallout.

Lifetime will likely never allow the release of the actual terms - if for no other reason than one of their major co-owners is Disney and they would not be very happy at all if the public got a glimpse of the result of network bundling.

I would much rather have oxyegen. They have that show with the old lady that has some sex talk show and usually is flinging a dildo in the air
Isnt that talk sex with sue johansen or something like that? I have watched that with my wife for a good laugh. One guy called in and asked her how to convince his girlfrend to do anal LOL.

Now that I read it again with a clear head, I saw what you were talking about. (I worked in a strip club for 9 hours yesterday on webserver and network issues) Needless to say I was a little fried when I got home. :)

If taking lifetime off the air will cause women to lose inspiration, they probably didnt have any to begin with. The NAGs, oops, i mean NOW is another group of America hating, left-wing, communist pinkos

Yeah, charlie mentioned the additional channels with viacom, so either it's not true here or it's so far away from the point that charlie has forgotten. I'm sure if it was a sticking point he'd add it to the reasoning...

Webserver issues in a strip club, amazing...Do they run webcams or is there a whole "myspace-while-I-wait-to-dance" thing going on backstage?

"women’s groups have held rallies in Greenville, S.C., and Houston calling for the network’s reinstatement."

I can't believe anyone would have so little to do that they would run out to protest about a TV channel.

I agree 100% how people can bitch and f**kin moan about such little sh*t!!!

I hope those protestors get hit by car!!!

I agree with charlie, take the damn channel off, keep customers prices in Check. Lifetime is partialled owned by ABC a big greedy conglomerate. Tell lifetime and the price increase to shove it where the sun dont shine. We have had enough of Big Corporations screwing the little guys (consumers)!!!!

Don't people have anything better to do with their time? I would understand a little more if they done this and there was only one provider available that offered that but that is not the case here. They act as if there is no other way of getting the channel and that its the end of the world.

I agree with you, it's time to do one of the three:
1. Cable
2. DirecTV
3. C band w/4dtv
Let's move on people !!!

lets see

1. Cable- We can't get cable in the country:mad:
2. Directtv- don't know anyone who has it.
3 . C band w/4dtv doesn't exist in preble county ohio.

i guess the only way to watch the nanny and the golden girls is to spend alot of money on dvds.

Just got Dish Network -- Have a Question

Going From Dish to Directv But Want To Keep Superstations -- HELP!!
