Is anyone else experiencing a high number of disk failures with Blu-rays?

About 1 in every 3 or 4 seems to be defective, with dropouts left and right.

I know I have sent back three or four to them. Im going to drop BB@H though. They closed the last BlockBuster store anywhere close to me and the mail service is too slow.

I've been getting about 4-6 BDs a month since the service launched. I've only had one disc have issues, and it was on a crappy movie anyway so it really didn't bug me.

I get a few that skip and freeze, my last two,"Sin City" would not load at all, "W" had lots of freeze-ups.
With Sin City, I was not able to report failure for some reason, so I wrote all over the cover stating the problem.

Every once in a while I get a bad disc. I have two blu-rays players and find that the disc skips/freezes on both players, so I know it's the disc.

If you look at the disc usually you'll find a scratch. I've only had 2 problems since they started the disc at home service. One disc came broken in half, the other had a very visible scratch.

I have had about 4 or 5 out of maybe 30 rentals that don't work. I have a PS3 and a Panasonic and the disc will have the same issues on both. the discs were 100% perfect, not a single scratch or fingerprint on them. Sometimes the PS3 will not even recognize a blu-ray is inserted, other times it will pixilate and fail.

Stop much for the hard coat layer.

I do not get BluRay, but I have had over a hundred regular dvds in a year and never had one that would not play after I cleaned it. I never put a disc in my BluRay player without cleaning it first. Some have been BluRay from my local BB store.

I have had a few broken ones, cracked, and a few that don't play in any of my blu rays. Kind of sucks but they sent out replacements pretty fast.

I wish I had Fuzz's luck. I have had 2 Blu-Rays arrive with broken discs. More than 10 have arrived with bad segments. this is about 1/3 of the discs sent to me from Dallas. it takes a lot longer to get through my Queue with so many repeats.

If you are having trouble with a PS3 failure and it is set to do auto updates, then you have a bad disk. If you can turn on the OSD and see the video bitrate and it is high, like 45 Mbs then maybe your player is not fast enough to handle the data through put which can rtesult in macro blocking. More likly the macroblocking is caused by a minor smudge on the disk. Take it out and clean the disk. If it won't load the disk at all, then you may need an update to the player if the disk is severely damaged with a bad scratch. This cannot be cleaned. BD uses java script and sometimes the newer disks my use a function that isn't supported in older players until they get a update.

I had one arrive broken in half and the last 3 true blood discs have had bad spots that freeze and then skip, even after cleaning them. I guess the older/more used discs have more problems.

Just received two Blu-Rays back to back that would not load. That makes three out of the last four that were defective.:(

Im with Netflix and havent had a disc that wouldnt play in a loooooong time. Even been using redbox, which are usually covered in fingerprints and require a cleaning.

I just received " Dark Shadows"played fine for about 20 minutes ,the froze up and will not play.I was really getting into movie.Guess I will send back.I dont think I ever received a back disk From netflix in 6 years.Have 2 blu ray players did it on both..
