Kuil?

Hopefully, KUIL will stay put on Ku-Band. There was talk from someone in engineering over there that they were having serious problems with their Ku uplink due to the frequent storms from the Gulf.

I got my dish motorized for the first time over the weekend and I scanned in AMC4 and it didn't find KUIL. After punching in the Freq/SR, I got a signal but no picture so I came here and found this thread. After I updated the PIDS it comes in fine.

I'm curious how you figured out what the specific video-audio codes were, is this done with equipment or just trial and error?

Audio:34
Video:33
PCR:33

You can find the PIDS on a receiver if you scan the transponder and it picks up the channel.

From you signature I see that you have a Pansat 3500.
On the Pansat 3500 press the "i" button near the arrow keys on a channel and it will list the information.

Or you can use TSReader which gives a lot of information.

That particular TP (transponder) is very strong, but the SR (signal rate) is so low it's hard to get. It might come in on some receivers with a Blind Scan and it might not. I think most of us had to use a manual scan to get it, some may have even had to do a PID scan?

This Channel Tiles Here

I get tiling on this channel much of the time; the religious channels come in strong.

Good channel for pro football season.

I'm a bit new to the concept of manually scanning, so I think I did it the wrong way. I went into Edit TP/Satellite and picked New and then put in the Freq, SR and Polarity and it added a new transponder. At that point, that transponder was showing a strong signal but no video/audio. I exited that menu and went to Advanced Scan (I think) and added in the video audio and PCR and then the channel came up.

I'm not sure if I did that through the wrong menu, but when I get home I'll try the "i" button while I'm on that channel (even though I've already punched in the numbers).

manual scan of the transponder will find all channels on said TP with correct pids

Advanced is only if you know the video/audio pid...I very rarely use this. Last time I did there was a channel that audio 2 was a radio station. I manually added the radio station as its own channel

Okay that makes sense. So it was the right thing to add the missing channel to it's own transponder, but then I could have gone to do a manual scan and it would have found KUIL automatically?

correct
as long as you entered the transponder info, just do a manual scan. It will find KUIL (logs as KUIL FOX64) with the right pids

The only time I had to do an advanced scan for channels is CW on G11 C-Band...the PIDS have to manually be entered
