Since I had the mount already on the deck and was cleaning the “satellite room”, I found my 24" dish. I figured “Well, we’ve tried a 30, a 36, a 18 and a 48...how bout a 24"?

I hooked the 24 up and used the DMSI 0.5 I had (it slipped right into the bracket.) I had this dish when I had ExpressVu so it hasn’t been used in a while. Aimed at IA6 (true south) and fired it up. Had some good signals and some not so good. Here is what I have between the 24" and the 30"

First number is the 24", second is the 30"
Bloomberg 56 73
Fox News Feed 32 59
Other feed 0 75
CBS News 60 60
CBS Feeds 30 45
ABCNewsNow 60 75
ABCSat 0 57
Other Feed 45 54
Lord/Taylor 60 75
Doc Scott 29 47
IRS Net 10 75

What was really weird is I used the Lord/Taylor as my test one and I has a 60 right away, but I also got a 60 on CCTV (G3) at the same time. No matter how far I moved east to tune in IA6, I could get G3 unil the end, when it disappeared. Most of the feeds came in fine, but it looks like a couple of them almost need a 30" to get a decent signal :)

I will try some other satellites but I have to retrofit a holder on there so I can skew it....but I will try G11, IA6, G3 and IA5 in the next couple days as these have almost a 0 skew

Very cool, interesting, how low you can go and still get signal and quality, great job.. :D

Hey ice, where did you get that LNB (I dont see it on DMSIs website)? I am thinking about a 4-lnb solution on my Phase 2, and thoght I could actually put a DSS shaped FSS LNB in the 101 slot.. even with the smaller dish, it would still pick up something at least, instead of wasting an lnb slot ;)

Thats the one.. hmm, Pete, how much would that go for? pm me with the price if you would rather that then post in here

Ive got better than 100' to my dish, but I can walk to it. It realy seams though to think of u guys getting up on the roof !!!!.............but I have to weed wack the weeds !!!!

ulta....the picture Pete posted is the LNB I'm using.. Its a .5
unfortunately, the one output doesnt work :( (user stupidity)

its not too hard to get to my roof...put the 6 foot stepladder on the deck, climb up and there is the roof :)

(but I am starting to migrate some of the dishes to the deck railing for easy access :)
