That is one of the stations I have to listen to the L OR R audio channel only. If I try to liten to LAND R cannels I get nothing. This happens using the RF output to the TV. The audio/video outputs work well with L and R.

It sounds to me like they're using some type of "fake" stereo, either that or the left and right channels are out of phase, which might tend to cancel out each other when summed to mono in certain situations. The audio isn't like this on KKTU, which mostly has the same programs.
I wonder how the Equity stations do ratings-wise in their local markets. They seem to have nearly continuous technical problems... I've seen local spots start right in the middle of a network show, programs run for one segment then start over from the beginning, etc.
My parents get KWWF on cable, and when I was visiting them recently, I noticed KWWF had no audio for several hours.
