Kiffin to USC!!!!

I'm starting to feel for Vol fans. Why not just promote an internal guy and then take your time next year to find someone who will be loyal enough to stick with the program for a long time?

Yep, just saw the reports that Calhoun is staying at AF. Next report is that we are going to go after former TN OC and current Duke coach David Cutcliff. Not at all happy there. I'm sure he'll be loyal, but he didn't do a great job of running the Ole Miss program. Grr, I'm frustrated.

Well, the good thing is Fulmer was 85-19 with Cutcliff and 67-33 without him.

Talk show here in Birmingham says reports are coming out that Cutcliff staying at Duke.

Dooley next??

I would go after Kevin Sumlin. I watched Houston play several times this year and was impressed. He just does not have the defensive personal. He would have it at Tennessee.

Edit: Just read Sumlin signed an extension yesterday. Oh well.

Another thought. Suck it up, let Brown take over for one year and then go after a big splash.

Another sign of the doucheness of Lane Kiffin. Word is the main reason Cutcliffe is staying at Duke is because at least some of the 6 assistant coaches Kiffin left behind are still under contract and would have to be retained. One of those assistants: David Reaves, brother-in-law of Lane Kiffin. He has a buyout in his contract and is likely not leaving (yet) for USC because he is waiting to get the buyout.

Edit: Well, apparently Kiffin didn't even tell Reaves he was leaving.
Scarbinsky: Lance Thompson took a chance on Lane Kiffin and got taken | Scarblog - al.com

In the previous 48 hours, Lane Kiffin had left Tennessee for USC, escaped an angry mob in Knoxville and stumbled through a withering inquisition in Los Angeles, and still Thompson hadn’t heard from him.
But even he couldn’t feel as bad as another of the assistants led to Tennessee and left behind. Thompson said Kiffin didn’t tell David Reaves he was leaving, either.
And Reaves is Kiffin’s brother-in-law.
"He saw it on TV," Thompson said.
So what would Thompson say to Kiffin given the opportunity?
"I would tell him, ‘Congratulations, but I’m looking forward to the day that we play.’
"I don’t care where I’m at. I’m always going to be looking for the day we play Lane Kiffin."

This is pretty funny since about 9 coaches have been rumored to be the next Tennessee coach but nothing has materialized.

BREAKING NEWS: I just heard from [sources inside the athletic department / a friend close to the situation / Mike Hamilton himself] that (insert coach's name here) has agreed in principle to be the next head coach at Tennessee! His [NFL experience / recruiting prowess / successful schemes] will help UT draw back in the recruits needed to beat [Florida / Alabama / Florida and Alabama]. He even has Tennessee ties from (insert actual/imagined Tennessee ties here).
The contract will be for $(insert number between 2 and 4) million for (insert number between 3 and 7) years. Coach (insert new head coach's name here) will keep the current staff on board at least through signing day, and is believed to want to keep them beyond that time.
Welcome to Tennessee, C(insert coach's initials immediately after the capital 'C').
