Today I was thrilled to discover that they have picked up RetroTV and are now airing in on 27.3 in place of the previous "Family TV" channel. (Beaumont, Nederland, Port Arthur, etc...)

I never did find out why they went off the air for several weeks but they did finally come back.
I hadn't checked KAOB 27.3 for a few weeks so it was just dumb luck I found the change today. I don't know when they brought Retro in, it could have been any time in the past 2-3 weeks.

But thank goodness they are on the air locally and now the quality is pretty decent.
Far better than that illegal joke of a channel, KUMY which is running a completely illegal operation.
Once upon a time they carried Retro but the quality was extremely poor, running an extremely low power analog transmitter (still are) which enormous, GAUDY station promo static banners covering the lower third of the screen 24/7 during shows and even commercials. Long ago they dropped Retro but were still listed as the local affiliate for years after. I called them last year and asked them when they were going to go digital (as required by law) and if they were going to ever carry Retro again. They told me "We'll be getting to that sometime in the future." Right........

KUMY is just airing some Spanish language stuff now as best as I can tell.

How it is they can continue to operate illegally and one a license that expired over a year ago is beyond me.
Well, good luck to them, I hope they can get their act together and get legit.

As for KAOB-LD, I really wish they would begin transmitting the channel guide info.

Soooooooo nice to have a local Retro affiliate again !! :D

I dont see how you say its illegal for KUMY to be on the air

They are low powered which did not have to upgrade to digital yet
They may have gone digital but have a "special temporary authority" from the FCC to be in analog still

(just because its on wiki....doesnt mean its right) ;)
