I got a Houston Tracker system VIII trying to hook it up with cat5 wire any ideas

I don't think the cat5 wires will work. Too thin.

do you mean to power an actuator ? i use cat 3 which is pretty much the same as cat 5. it has 4 pairs. i use 3 pairs for power and the last pair for the reed sensor. works fine for the last 18 months. alot cheaper than ribbon coax.
