Dan, I'm curious what satellite or programming are you looking to get? Provided the apartment owners etc...don't give you a hard way to go..well anymore than they already have

I have directv for several years now I started out with them also. I had dish for a couple of years they were alright. But I want to do several things one have FTA setup, wifi antenna, HAM radio and CB radio. This is my plain I have a tv antenna and a directv satellite dish on the same pole. I am plainning to make my own mods by welding metal poles to my satellite dish pole to have more slots for more equipment that are on the ground not in the ground. Something like this I=I=I=I=I all connected to the satellite pole not attached to the apartment.

Dan,

I understand your hobby, fun and desires, but don't push your legitmate rights on the housing authority where you live. I mean, don't go overboard. If they work with you to allow you sto support your hobbies, don't gloat it over them and set up a new SETI institution. Be gracious about it so that you can retain your set up without pissing them off. You have the law on your side for what you wish to do, but don't take it to an extreme. Keep "them" happy out of courtesy and not just according to the legal options. If you remain staunch and diplomatic, they may even appreciate what you do in the long run. Just play it that way and don't go overboard.

You have to work with "them" regardless, so work with them so that their authority isn't undermined and keep it a working relationship between you and them. You will eventually find that you have more leeway to conduct your hobbies without trouble from "them". It is a matter of give and take and politics and diplomacy. If you play the high card and then gloat over it, they might find another reason or opportunity to evict you. Not for any reason related to your hobbies, but they could find something else to snare you on if they think that you are too much trouble for them.

Best policy is to be legit and appear to be grateful to them all the way. It's a game and it is not always right, but it usually works out if you are good at sucking up your pride and acting like you are submissive. Then, you at least make the little minds think they won, whilst you get your way and do what you intended to in the first place. You win. They think they they won by being harmonious and benevolant, and no one is the wiser of the con. Hee Hee.

RADAR you are right I'll just play it cool and layoff getting on their nerves and follow the rules. A little bit kindness can go a long way.

I have showed them the FCC papers their stupid lawyer said it does not apply to us since I live in low income housing. I said its for everyone that lives in the US.

Dan Rose
Not always completely true. Some / much "low income / section 8 housing" does not include any non public or non-common areas, and as such are not covered. There are a lot of things involved in that situation that are not publicized.
And that is all I will say about that!
