How many OTHER things did you have to buy from Amazon to get all the credits to bring your bill down to $ 37 ?
$ 500 or so ?![]()
More than that.

Congrats! I am looking forward to getting mine in a few days. I can't recall the last time I saw a product that has received such universal praise. I mean, you really have to dig deep to find any negative comments. These days, that's pretty rare.
I know some folks dont like the GUI but I dont think anyone can argue about the speed of this thing. As long as it does stable DVR functions and MRV, any knocks are really nit picking.
I completely understand, I just don't want to drop $400-$600 to replace my fleet, and lose the OTA to boot without another $150. Add in that they are all leased, and I think I'll keep my money.
HR24-Pro for $300, I would think about that though (just a wish, no HR24-Pro yet).
lmao..... and the wife found out too![]()
no offense but i love my hr21 pro. that is nice but an hr24 version would be sweet.
More than that. Not all from Amazon though ... I have one of their Rewards Visa cards, and I use it to auto-pay for everything that I can, including utilities. I never carry a balance, so it doesn't cost me anything to use it. When you start using one of these for all the usual living expenses, the points start adding up!
You may have missed that about a week after posting my hesitation to spend $400-600 I caved and spent $300 to get two HR24's.
Overstock had a deal that sold them for $156 shipped and I jumped on two. Glad I did - as it didn't last long.
We may see an HR24 pro someday, who knows. The HR21 Pro served a specific purpose, is now pretty outdated, and there is still some demand for receivers like that (think sports bars, commercial environments, etc).
Question for those who recently activated an HR24 -- do they still ask if you have the receiver connected to a phone line? I don't, but usually tell them "yes" as it seems to be the answer they want. Always wondered what happens if you say "no?"
:haha:hahahoney, we're having a baby and its real hot and rectangular. and did i mention its black too!![]()
Thanks Jimbo. I haven't connected a phone line in years and haven't had any problems. I subscribe to MLB-EI -- no issues there either. I was mostly curious as to why they always ask. Now I know!
i am as picky as you are and honestly i don't see this issue with the picture quality on the HR24. In fact its the first time i read someone post this. you're 100% sure all of your settings are correct?Got my HR24 -- activated within minutes, started checking it out. So far ...
The good: The speed, of course. This is the way it always should have been. Nice! Aesthetically very pleasing, and virtually silent operation.
The bad: Not many mentions of this, but the picture quality is a step down from all previous models. Looking via HDMI, there is a slight "smudging" to the images -- sharp edges are a little dull -- looks like there is some kind of filtering going on, almost like anti-aliasing, or some "averaging" of the lines to reduce noise. Mind you, this is very subtle -- I'm a (very picky) video engineer so I suspect this is non-issue for most, but it annoys me a bit. I see the same thing via component. If I had some test signals, I could quantify it. I might be able to take some screen grabs of some detailed graphics to illustrate the problem.
Overall, not sure if I'm pleased about trading speed for a worse picture.
