just aquired a used samsung 42"hd

so anyways i aquired this tv and it has some issues... well, one big issue. Ghosting. the former owner tells me that it happened once before and that he had it fixed. some modulator or something it cost him like 500bucks to fix. does this sound right? worth fixing? the price was right for me to take this problem off his hands....free
