DS 405,000
PS 2 222,000
PSP 214,000
Xbox 360 170,000
PS 3 159,000

Wow....just wow.

Where the hell did the Wii numbers come from? This is the first time the Wii has beaten the DS.

PSP is strong.

Good news: PS3 sales up 202%
Bad news: Didn't beat 360 and didn't break 200k
Worse news: Initial reviews of 2 exclusive heavy hitter games have been very bad. (Lair & Warhawk)

Detailed software will be up later.

Thanks as always to sonycowboy:

Wow, thought the price cut would have been a bit more effective in increasing sales. There's a nice increase, but compared to the competition it is still very very poor.

Sony will have to do a lot more to encourage adoption. Wonder where they'd be without Blu-Ray as a 'oh well if i dont like the games it will play hd movies' fallback for some purchasers.

keep in mind the price cut was only from what the 10th or 15th not the whole month. Also next month Heavenly Sword is comming out should help sales.

According to sonycowboy:

The price drop was in effect for 26 out of the 28 covered days, at least officially. (NPD uses retail calendar which is different)

Some stores didn't drop their price for a day or two, but it was essentially the whole month.

sad :( I was really hoping it would do better..and lair and warhawk are a suprise, I thought they were going to be great, but Bioshock took that cake.

hmm... PS3 was very close to Xbox 360 (51.7 to 48.3). Actually an impressive gain, at this rate it will beat it next month.

Much more interesting, and of huge concern to Microsoft should be that the PS2 still beats the Xbox 360 by a comfortable margin (56.6 to 43.9), and those PS2 customers are likely to upgrade to the PS3 at some point in the future as opposed to the Xbox 360 (backwards compatibility to their existing library is a big thing).

Nintendo on the other hand is trouncing everyone.

Don't count on it. August will have the 360 price cut plus BioShock & Madden. GameStop/EB said in their earnings conference call that the price cut doubled 360 sales. Then add the press BioShock is getting (2nd highest rated games of all time).

I would not be shocked if the 360 was close to 315k next month.

I also wonder if Nintendo is releasing stockpiled Wiis this month, as well as last month, to fight the PS3 & 360 price cuts.

This year its all about the Wii, but after December we have to see if they still going strong, the gamecube did good at start, but in the end....the xbox and PS2 stole the show.

About reviews, many people said RFoM was going to be bad, but it seems its still one of the best games out there after GoW, 40 man multiplayer is really fun!
Short answer, Warhawk should be a fun game.

Gamecube was just another console in the race though, Wii has revolutionized how many people look at a console system, attracting many who wouldn't normally play it.

That also classifies it as a fad, but it should have the staying power with things like WiiFit in the pipeline.
