Jazz legend max roach has died

i guess this is the appropriate forum for this. i read this afternoon that jazz great, drummer max roach has died at the age of 83. for anyone else here who is a serious jazz buff should be familiar with roach's music. he was definitely one of the early jazz pioneers and one of the masters of his instrument. he and art blakey were my favorite drummers. i preferred blakey mainly because a who's who of jazz greats including wynton marsalis and herbie hancock played in art's band.

sad day indeed for the jazz world.

i read it online wednesday. i think the associated press report stated he had died tuesday of undisclosed reasons.
