James Harrison Rips Goodell & Fellow Teammates!

I agree with everything Rodney Harrison said ....

However, I think there are PLENTY of football players that you can call "Angry"

i agree with him too jim. if there are other players like you say "angry" at least they are not calling all this attention up on themselves. he needs to zip it

Once AGAIN ....
I never said I agree with what he said about the stuff your talking about,
I'm tired of REPOSTING it, go back a few pages and see what I agreed with,it's easy, it's like the second or third post in the thread.
Is it me, or is thread becoming increasingly more difficult to follow??!! WOW!!!

"That's what we're told by Coach LeBeau — blow through the guy, not to him. When the fines came down he said, 'Don't change a damn thing.' You're doing it the way we do it on this team."

This statement says nothing about allowing hits to the head, it says "Blow thru them", not hit them high in the helmet.

LeBaeau made this statement following high hits by Harrison in which he got fined. So yeah, the Steeler's coaching staff is condoning the "high in the helmet" hits.

2 seasons ago Ryan Clark launched himself head first in to Wes Weller 2 seconds after the ball was bye him, when he came to the sidelines Tomlin gave him a big hug, point is I believe it is condoned and encouraged within the Steelers organization.

I believe the hard hits and leading with the helmet are condemned by most people but then they add a wink and a smile towards the players. There is a reason the media constantly show the hard hits. Fans love them. The NFL wants to give fans what they love especially if it means more money coming into their pockets. I believe the hit Harrison put of the Cleveland receiver is the norm. The receiver ducked which caused him to be hit in the head area. However, I think Harrison led with his helmet which I believe is a penalty. So, I am not sure if in that instance the right decision was made by the commissioner. However, he (commissioner) has been right more times than not in my opinion. As other people have pointed out the art of tackling, for the most part, is being forgotten at every level of football. it is not being taught and kids at a young age are not being held accountable for that skill in high school and in college. This will result in more injuries I believe. The issue with Harrison is it is not the first time with such a hit and it will not be the last time probably until the NFL becomes serious about such things. Again, the NFL wants the hard hits that the fans love so in my opinion they have done little but to fine, suspend, and then wink and smile. What bugs me about Harrison's comments is dropping the race card as a reason the commissioner fined Harrison. That is ridiculous. The other comments are just dumb and the ones towards his team mates he will have to deal with in the locker room. But when people do this time and time again it tends to cloud up true racial bias I believe what the Steelers should do is to fine and suspend Harrision for 1- 2 games so they take that ball out of the commissioners hand and show that type of rant will not be tolerated. As much as I dislike the Steelers, they have shown to be a true class organization and this would maybe spur other teams to follow their example.

In that vein, I am in the minority, it seems, as liking the commissioner using his power as it pertains to players behavior on and off the field. I wish the commissioner in baseball had that type of power again but the union in baseball has been successful in winning that concession. I do think an appeal process is needed but I think they should have a three person panel with the commissioner, a retired player, and Steve Sabol (someone in that vein) to look at these types of things and reach a decision.

If James Harrison hates Roger Goodell and the NFL so much, perhaps he should take his talents to a different league.

The funniest and strangest thing is, is there ANY other team that has had ALL of it's main stars/best players ALL get into some kind of trouble like this team:

Ben Roethlisburger
Hines Ward
James Harrison
Santonio Holmes
Rashard Mendenhall
Jeff Reed

I mean when you think of the Steelers, you think of class act organization. But if you look closely at what has happened OFF THE FIELD with this team, their biggest names have done/said some stuff that IF they weren't under the Rooney umbrella, we would be nailing the team to the wall.

Or maybe it's just me....
