It's that time of year again, upcoming price changes.

I would cut back my programming in a heartbeat, but..... My wife who claims she doesn't watch that much tv can tell you a lot about many different shows and movies so I just continue to keep what we have. At some point something will eventually have to give(up).

With the two year freeze on the package price I just renewed the Top 200 for me is a decent value if we can call anything a value today in TV. But with the HBO dispute I have just about decided I can live without HBO so will save there, and if/when Starz is no longer available @ $5 I'll drop that too. We do watch the channels in the Movie pack often enough I will keep that especially when it includes Epix. So overall I have found ways to save without giving up the channels we want. With my Grandfathered $7 DVR fee I can live with the costs as of now.

I have a 722k and a 211 and that's all I need, and it keeps the receiver fee total down. January's bill will tell me if something needs to give to keep the bill in the "reasonable" territory...

I ditched the $10 Dish Movie Pack in favor of the 6 month Epix deal for $3.50

That should take the edge off of the increase

I've been with Dish for just over 11 years, I've always had the AEP, I think it's getting time to drop dish, the lack of programming sucks, I only watch HD channels, there's few SD channels that I will watch, I think the # of HD channels on Dish compared to the # of SD channels is ridiculous, I know Dish is not to blame for most of these channels in SD, but now that HBO is gone I'm considering more streaming options, and the shows I currently watch on Dish I can stream. I feel that Dish is in NO POSITION to implement price increases at least until this HBO/CMax BS get's settled.

I think this is the future for many. I have Dish and I also stream off Roku and the Fire Box.

Agree...but unfortunately for me, I only have one high speed internet option in my area, and they have a cap (AT&T). The other reason I keep Dish is for live sports - everything else I can stream. I have tried YouTube TV and Playstation Vue, and both of them struggled during big time sporting events. I don't think it was AT&T's issue, the video/sound quality would decrease, lots of buffering. But no doubt this is going to be the future for many. Just need to work out some of the distribution issues - which give it a year or two and it will be non-existent - and the caps piece...

HBO Cinemax have no bearing on a there being a price increase. Even if HBO comes back, it could have its own separate increase as it is a separate ancillary item.

It should on the everything package...especially when it is a $15 stand alone package
Yes, which is why I suggested the "replacements" before, in post number 41. The combined "value" of those channels (based on Dish's pricing of those packages) would come close to approximating the combined "value" of HBO and Cinemax.

There is no packages on Comcast or spectrum for less than the welcome pack.

After you add the taxes and fees Dish is a better value.

Same with Cox. I have the Welcome Pack and movie pack, even with the HWS fees, Dish is the best choice. Cox does not have a cheap pack. I also have Amazon Prime and Netflix, Why would anyone need anymore.
