I never have a solar outage. The signal drops considerably during and a little before and after the calculated time, but never low enough to lose the dishnetwork signal. I suspect that this is because I am using a starchoice 75cm eliptical dish with one legacy dual lnb at the end of the arm, looking at 119 only. Can someone explain why I don't experience a solar outage?
Thanks, but I'm looking for an explanation. Sure, larger dish brings in more sat signal, but it seems to me it would also bring in more solar noise. I wonder if the fact that the dish is made for two sats and an lnb that picks up two sats has something to do with it. And no, I have checked on numerous occasions, and I never completely lose the signal. Normally I get about 65 on my receiver's signal meter, it will drop to maybe 40 during the 'outage'.You do you just haven't seen it. It may only drop completely out for a minute or two then com right back. In fact the larger the dish the shorter the duration.
You are likely correct. The focal point on an elliptical is not as pin pointed as a single lnb dish, like a parabolic...I think.I wonder if the fact that the dish is made for two sats and an lnb that picks up two sats has something to do with it.

I am experiancing signal loss. the picture disappears and the error screen comes up. I check sat signal and they are all lower than they used to be. the dish has not moved and the weather is perfect. before i go trying to move the dish is something happening that i just have to wait out?
Thanks
Mark
I am pointed at 119 only. I still get a picture during the drop in signal.Do you still have a moving watchable picture on both sats when the drop shows up?
